Testimonials

I appreciate you taking the time to visit my website. Below is a brief description of how I compare to my challengers and why I’m running. The site has many more details concerning my positions and how I would approach the job if you elect me to be your servant representative, including a Covenant I have published with the people of the 3rd District.

How I'm Different

I stand out from my challengers in following ways:

  • I am the only one with international experience, working with Middle Eastern leaders in rebuilding the power system in Iraq through 6 assignments for which I volunteered;
  • Having spent many years in the electric utility industry, I am the only one with the background to approach a comprehensive national energy policy so that we can reduce our dependence on foreign oil and we will have the energy we need at a price we can afford in the future;
  • I am the only licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and with a degree in engineering—to approach problems from a logical, strategic perspective;
  • I am a small business owner;
  • I have provided strategy for and successfully managed budgets as high as $5.4 billion;
  • I have been a consensus builder all my life - a unifier, not a divider; inclusive, not exclusive. I will be able to use these skills as we work to influence others to our point of view.

Why I’m Running

After the fall 2008 elections, it became even clearer to me that the common-sense views of most hard-working Americans were being ignored, and that concern has played out to be real. I sensed a strong leading to offer my experience up for public service.

This is not a career building move for me….I have already built my career and retired a couple of times. This effort is about trying to make a difference at a time when our country needs folks who will stand firm and speak up.

Who I Am

When I was 18 years old, I became a conservative Republican, primarily due to the “tax and spend” mentality of the Democratic Party. I have always followed politics closely while making a living. But I am not a “politician.” I have no encumbrances that those who have been ensconced in the political scene may have. Our nation was founded by leaders and statesmen, not politicians.

I have lived my life on ethical principles and I will conduct myself in Washington in that same principled fashion.

I am a small business person, someone who has worked his whole life, just like most of the people of the 3rd District. Along the way, I have had the privilege of having some good experience that would be helpful in Washington. One of my goals is to write a comprehensive energy policy for the U.S.--the first ever—to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, so we can all afford electricity in the future.

The work of Congress is in committees. Committee assignments by the Republicans are based on experience more than seniority. I believe because of my
experience and the way I work, I can obtain some meaningful committee assignments where I can make a difference for the people of the 3rd District.

It Matters Who Leads

I ask for your vote and support because I believe I am the most qualified to beat the Democratic challenger in the general election, and we REALLY need to take back the Congress in 2010, for the sake of our country and all the liberties that we hold dear.
